Cultural Insights Programme (optional)
You can choose the Cultural Insights evening option to discover more about Oxford, accompanied each time by your teacher. We can sometimes even arrange to teach you inside Oxford University itself.
Accommodation and Meals
You live with your teachers in their pleasant home, in a quiet street in central Oxford. You have your own private room with a comfortable bed, wifi, tea and coffee facilities, and a desk. Each day breakfast and a delicious dinner with your hosts is provided, along with conversation. The house is just a short walk from the centre of town, with pubs, cafes, the River Thames and a park nearby.

Programme Structure
Mornings
You spend your morning with one of your teachers each morning, Monday to Friday, in 1:1 lessons tailored to your needs and objectives.
Afternoons
Choose between 3 options for the afternoon:
- Basic: This is for you if you want free afternoons.
- Intensive: Your teacher helps you decide on a Project for the afternoons so you practise your English skills in different ways with different people. Depending on your interests, this could involve visiting museums, bookshops, retail parks or contacting businesses in the city.
- Intensive PLUS: In addition to everything in the Intensive programme, you enjoy our Cultural Insights programme which includes 3 extra activities (such as theatre, cinema or a university tour) in the company of one of your teachers.

Your teachers: Alison and Richard
Alison and Richard are a married couple. They both have an honours degree in languages, a university teaching qualification, and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics. They each have 14 years’ experience working internationally, teaching English to professionals in countries across the world, including Brazil, France, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Egypt and Singapore.
On returning to the UK, Alison was Head of Business English in the Oxford Academy until 1998, when she founded Oxford Professional English. Now CEO of Oxford Professional Consulting Ltd, she is an experienced Business Coach and specialist in Leadership Communication. In the DUO programme Alison and her husband work as a team to help you improve your English. This makes a change from her normal work and she enjoys opening her home to a business guest on the DUO programme for one special week.
On returning to the UK, Richard went into academic work. He worked at Oxford Brookes University for over 25 years, where he led the department, created courses and taught a range of subjects from English and Linguistics to British Cinema. Richard is keen on sport and literature while Alison’s hobbies are singing, travel and foreign languages. They both love films, theatre and spending time with friends, family and foreign visitors. They also enjoy good food and wine, with conversation!
